From a funny short story for a mother
This novel is a diary-like account of somebody who thought they had a good shot at being a public figure. Then launching themselves into a public life and failing. Their health is, thankfully far better now and they are gradually leaving that trauma behind. There is intrigue in how the book itself is structured and the drama driving the narrative will appeal to a wider audience as well as those looking for guidance. It is not simply a memoir.
This is a non-fiction novel based on the unholy drama and pain that followed from a teenager simply asking for help one fateful Christmas. The author’s hope is that it will resonate with anybody with an interest in mental health or drug use. It is for those affected by these problems and their families, while also remaining mindful of those on the other side of the table – the health practitioners.
This sharing of a long-term experience of the national mental health service is just ‘unnormal’ part of the author’s life story. There is so much more to this book. The message is that despite any problem there is always so much more to experience and learn about life. That it is never all over.
