The Eastham Inheritance

Mark Anderson
Description

Mark Anderson was born in 1956 at Umuahia in Nigeria’s Eastern Region, where his father worked for the United Africa Company. His mother was a surgical nurse from a large Catholic family in Galway, while his father was from County Armagh, of Scottish Presbyterian descent. They married in Germany while both were serving officers with the British Army of the Rhine. Mark was educated at Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare, and St Catherine’s College, Oxford, where he read law. On completion of the graduate course at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 1978, Mark joined his regiment, the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards. His military career spanned fifteen years, with postings in England and Germany, staff college in Canada and two tours of duty in Northern Ireland in the 1980s. In 1984 Mark and Sophie Schwerdt were married at Firle in East Sussex. A second career followed in banking and finance and later in property investment in Eastern Europe. Mark died suddenly in tragic circumstances in March 2016. He is survived by his wife Sophie, son William, daughter Clementine, sister Alexandra (Boo) and brother Hugh. He is sorely missed by these and many more.
